Biography
Filipe Lima holds a bachelor's degree in Production Engineering from the State University of Maranhão (2017), as well as a master's degree (2019) and a PhD (2024) in Production Engineering from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE). His academic training included an exchange period at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA).
He was a postdoctoral associate researcher in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and at the Lemann Center for Brazilian Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is also a collaborating member of the REASON research group (Risk Analysis and Modeling in Environment, Assets, Safety, Operations and Nature; www.reason.org.br), contributing to research projects of international scope.
His research interests focus on the development of Operations Research models for the analysis and prioritization of risks associated with natural hazards—particularly floods and landslides—and their impacts on critical transportation infrastructure. His work emphasizes multi-criteria decision-making methods, fragility analysis, and risk scenario analysis under uncertainty.
