About
Lorenzo is an AI+ Academic Senior Fellow at King's College London, with the Department of Geography and the Institute of AI. He also serves as Chair of the Working Group for Educational Materials under the UN Global Initiative on Resilience to Natural Hazards through AI Solutions, where he coordinates educational activities on AI for natural disaster management.
Lorenzo leads the Hazard Systems Research Group, which focuses on the integration of Earth Observation, machine learning, and numerical modeling to improve the response, monitoring, and prediction of natural hazards and cascading risks.
Prior to joining King's, Lorenzo was a Research Associate in Multihazard Remote Sensing at the University of Cambridge, with a joint appointment in the Departments of Earth Sciences and Geography. He holds a PhD in Geosciences from the University of Padova and an MSc in Geotechnologies for Environmental Applications from the University of Florence.
